Healthcare is a Right! Not a Responsibility!

If you or anyone you love has ever been diagnosed with a disease or been seriously injured while uninsured, you know the anxiety.

If you've ever needed to take time out of work to take care of a child when they became ill and worried what would happen to them if you lost your job and your health insurance, you know the fear of your child not being able to receive their medication or treatments.

If you are a cancer survivor or a victim of a violent crime, you have enough to worry about trying to stay alive and get healthy. You shouldn't have to worry about if the insurance company is going to jack up your rates or stop paying for your treatments, because you met some artificial lifetime maximum.

In a society as wealthy as the United States, there is no excuse for a government not providing health insurance to it's citizens. It is a fundamental RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE OUR RIGHT TO HEALTHCARE.

Potential for access to healthcare through an employer or a marketplace is not enough.
What we need in this country is to expand Medicare to ALL CITIZENS as a RIGHT!

But in Rhode Island, we do not need to wait for the federal government to do it for us.

We can model Rhode Island's health after major countries around the world.

We can provide health care to all Rhode Islanders through a simple Payroll and Capital Gains tax.

No more co-pays. No more gaps in coverage. No more loss of coverage when changing jobs. Less legal hoops to jump through when opening new businesses.

RICHIP is a way to ensure all residents health care; young or old; sick or healthy; rich or poor.

When we take care of our own from day one, we reduce major health costs from undiagnosed conditions down the road.
