Climate Change Plan

Donate to Start Fighting Climate Change

The Rhode Island Progressive Democrats of America are ready to take their first step in creating a plan to revitalize Rhode Island and fight climate change by transforming the Ocean State into a producer of solar, tidal, and onshore wind energy.

Our aim is to generate 200% of the energy that Rhode Island needs and to return energy profits to Rhode Island as citizen dividends and funding for cities and the state. Rhode Island spends $3 billion on energy every year, and as an energy producer, we can keep that money in our state and add more.

We are partnering with Ocean State Community Energy, a collaborative of ReVenture and 4E Energy, to develop a plan to build municipal utilities across Rhode Island starting with a scalable design for a utility in Cranston, the second largest city in the state. The design will use city infrastructure and avoid green space and will employ the latest innovations in wind and tidal technology.

With a plan that shows what a Cranston utility would look like and how it would work, we’ll be able to start large-scale fundraising for a statewide plan and to advocate for the project across Rhode Island when the statewide plan is complete.

A project this big and ambitious is the only true way to fight climate change, and if Rhode Island demonstrates how to do it, the rest of the world can join in. Please join us in taking a hopeful step for our future, and thank you for your support.

RI Progressive Dems, this is an epic challenge. And a hard one to communicate to your constituents. To help everyone get clear on what the challenge actually involves, so we can all wrap our heads around it, and discuss the options, we’ve developed a handy metric. The #FirstGigawattDown – Made a video about it. Check it out.—VSh0JUT0 Would love to talk to you about your plans in the context of this metric. Contact me! Rezwan (at ) fp2w (dot) org -

You should separate the Climate Change Plan away from this political party website. Climate Change is a bipartisan issue and a revolutionary solution should not be a politically charged plan. It will also attract more libertarians and conservatives who consider themselves environmentally conscious.

Climate change is a topic in America that is disavowed by certain recently formed groups; religious leaders and their followers, and high-ranking politicians including the president, himself. Without any knowledge on the subject, they disagree with 13 federal agencies, the International Panel on Climate Change and the World Meteorologist Organization, all supported by climatologists, meteorologists, geoengineers‎, glaciologists, paleo climatologists, atmospheric scientists, quaternary geologists and polar experts.
